Job summary

We require a Pharmacy Technician or Dispenser to join our forward thinking practice. You will need to be qualified to at least NVQ level 2 and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), have relevant experience with excellent communication skills, a can do attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will be able to demonstrate assessment skills, including undertaking of risk assessments and have sound patient skills, treating patients with respect and dignity at all times, adopting a culturally sensitive approach as well as being flexible.

You will have a can-do attitude, are able to be flexible with your working hours to ensure there is cover during times of sickness and annual leave and be committed to supporting the practice.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include:

Acting as Team Leader and when necessary allocating day to day duties

Processing of patient repeat medication requests in an acute and timely manner

To check acute medication requests as appropriate with a clinician

Process wound formulary requests from nursing homes, care homes and district nurses in line with CCG wound formulary guidelines

Workflow documents to be actioned in line with practice protocol

Dealing with patients queries face to face, via email and via telephone as and when required

Liaising with Pharmacies, Nursing Homes, NHS colleagues and practice clinicians

Completing tasks from GP's and other colleagues where appropriate

Monitoring blood test results for high risk and shared care medications

Carrying out drug audits as requested by the GP's/practice managements

Attending practice team and event meetings and feeding back learning points to the team.

About us

We are a dynamic forward thinking practice who look after around 16800 patients. We currently have 9 GPs 6 of which are GP Partners, as well as salaried GP's and a GP Registrar. We have a research team on site and have participated in many clinical trials.

We are also a training practice so regularly host Medical students who have placements with us.

Duties of the Role

Patient Interface

To ensure that the prescribing team provides a professional, efficient and friendly service at all times.

The preparation and distribution of relevant patient information and provide patient education regarding medications, new systems and processes.

To advise patients when they are due for review with their GP or nurse in line with the repeat prescribing protocols.

To ensure any communication or complaints are dealt with in a courteous and timely manner and the Operations Manager must be contacted immediately.

Ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum of NVQ level 2 and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Experience in working with members of the public

Experience in dispensary work

Sound understanding of effective team working

Ability to multi-task and work to agreed objectives without close supervision
