    Job summary

    We have an exciting opportunity for a one year fixed term contract for a part time ( hours a week) Band 7 CBT therapist.

    As a Band 7 CBT therapist you will be joining our psychology team already comprising of our Clinical Psychology Lead, 2 x CBT specialists, a Psychotherapist, an Art Psychotherapist and Assistant Psychologists. There is also a wide MDT comprising of Nurses, Dietitians, Family Therapists and Consultant Psychiatrists who will actively support, teach and encourage you.

    A strong interest in working with Eating Disorders is essential and previous experience of working with young people with Eating Disorders is desirable. We welcome applications from newly qualified CBT Therapists. You should have knowledge, interest and skills in the clinical delivery of CBT and/or Family Based Interventions in both group and individual forms.

    We are based in Epsom and also have a hub in Aldershot. We work flexibly between 8-6pm to support our staff to have a good work/life balance.

    Main duties of the job

    The Surrey-wide Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service provides effective care, treatment and support to young people up to 18 years old across Surrey. You will work alongside your other MDT colleagues as well as the growing psychology team and be expected to support the clinical team in continuing to deliver the NHS England Access and Waiting Times targets. You will complete assessments and contribute to the treatment/ care plans for the young people, working as part of the whole system of multi-agency working.

    Promoting a psychological perspective both within teams and sharing with other colleagues, including collaborative working with team Managers/ Clinical leads in the development and delivering of effective services. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within the service. To lead on complex and challenging cases and develop expertise within area of specialism.

    You will provide initial assessments of people referred to the service, and deliver the initial treatment pathway as well as providing specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions in line with evidence based treatment protocols and be actively involved in the development and implementation of agreed care plans

  • Experience

  • Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles
  • Working knowledge across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioral and individual therapeutic
  • Specialist understanding of the impact of language, culture, gender, ethnicity & disability in shaping attitudes, abilities & difficulties
  • Specialist understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and how to manage & maintain them
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists
