Are you an experienced leader in Adult Social Care, looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority? We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join our dynamic Adult Social Care Service at West Berkshire Council.


As a Team Leader reporting to the Locality Manager, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team in delivering high-quality social care services to vulnerable adults within our community.

Based at our modern Market Street Offices, you will provide effective leadership, supervision, and support to your team, ensuring they have the tools and guidance to excel in their roles.


Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supporting a team of social workers, occupational therapists and social care practitioners, ensuring excellent service delivery and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing caseloads and monitoring service performance and outcomes.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to team members, supporting their professional development and growth.
  • Collaborating with other stakeholders and partners to ensure effective multiagency working and the best possible outcomes for service users.
  • Contributing to service development and improvement initiatives, sharing your expertise to shape and enhance service delivery.

Skills and attributes:

  • Qualified occupational therapist with relevant professional registration and significant experience in Adult Social Care.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve high standards of performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and relationshipbuilding with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of statutory duties, regulations, and best practices related to Adult Social Care.
  • Strong decisionmaking and problemsolving abilities, with the capacity to remain calm and make sound judgments in highpressured situations.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year.

Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council's corporate buildings.


This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
