The Department of Languages, Information and Communications is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Journalism as part of the University's 2030 vision.
We have ambitious to plans to grow Manchester Met's Journalism provision and are a seeking to appoint a practice-based educator to join our team.
You will be contributing to a dynamic, innovative and passionate team, invested in delivering learning and teaching, which is underpinned by professional practice.
Delivering both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes, we pride ourselves on the wealth of our industry links, which combine to enhance student experience and inform and shape our programme's content.
The team is looking for a Lecturer in Multimedia Journalism to support these programmes, with a proven track-record in a relevant industry as well as in Journalism education, to contribute to delivering relevant content and to engage in Knowledge Exchange (collaboration with industry).
You will contribute to the development of our growing international ambitions and to fostering industry links for the benefit of graduate outcomes.
Performing the duties of a Lecturer you will teach on Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses using pedagogic approaches that deliver first class student experience and undertake Knowledge Exchange and/or Research in Multimedia Journalism and related disciplines.
Teaching embraces a professional practice approach spanning print, digital and broadcast journalism in an effort to equip students with current and relevant industry skills.
The ideal candidate should have experience of and connections to the journalism industry that they can bring into the classroom.
You will be able to explain complex concepts and teach technical skills related to multiplatform news production in areas such as Newswriting, content generation, TV, Radio, page layout and design, media law and feature writing.
You would support students publishing to our outward facing news website, which is used as a learning resource, and embedded in teaching.
You will contribute to research and knowledge exchange/enterprise activity through collaboration with industry and/or high quality research.
