    Band 7s Clinical Trials Pharmacist SuttonLocation: Sutton (Expected to provide cross-site coverage if needed)

    A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a passionate, highly motivated, and dynamic pharmacist to join the pharmacy clinical trials team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting time to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Clinical Trials Department. Our service is built around providing a high-quality service to our patients and staff of the Trust.

    This position will be based in Sutton but will require working at our Chelsea site when necessary, to ensure consistent coverage and maintain the quality and speed of service during absences and annual leave. Applicants should have previous experience in clinical trials, and a background in oncology or haemato-oncology would be advantageous.

    Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the provision of the pharmacy clinical trials service to the Dispensaries (Chelsea & Sutton), West Wing Clinical Research Centre (WWCRC), Oak ward and day case areas of the Drug Development Unit and the Clinical Trial Dispensary across both sites.
  • To assist the Clinical Trials Team with any day-to day clinical and dispensing, ward and research day units queries.
  • Provide clinical trial support and advice to other areas within pharmacy aseptic service, clinical services and to the research teams.
  • To support the clinical trial team with clinical trial set-up of new studies, revision of amendments for ongoing studies already open at the trust, to provide continued support for the running and maintenance of current trial activity.
  • To contribute to the provision of the pharmacy clinical trials service to the individual clinical units, R&D and the Trust.

  • To provide clinical support to clinical trial team
  • Support education and training with regard to clinical trial dispensing and preparation within pharmacy. Assist in the training of new pharmacists undergoing their accreditation for clinical trial chemotherapy prescription screening and clinical trial final product checking.
  • To provide continued support for the clinical trial set-up of new studies presented at the Trial Set Up meeting for the allocated unit
  • To provide continued support for the running and maintenance of active studies, including the management of protocol amendments
  • To assist in writing, reviewing and updating pharmacy clinical trial standard operating procedures
  • Ensure that clinical trial services policies and procedures are adhered to and accreditation records and training documents are completed appropriately.

    Education/Qualifications

    Essential

  • GPhC registered Pharmacist
  • Certificate in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
  • Desirable

  • Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Member of RPS
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience in Hospital Pharmacy experience (including pharmacy ward experience) in an NHS or equivalent setting providing a clinical pharmacy service
  • Experience of delivering clinical pharmacy to a broad range of specialities & ability to provide highly specialist advice
  • Audit, project management of research experience
  • Experience & ability to train/coach other members of staff
  • Desirable

  • Experience in Oncology +/- Haemato-Oncology Pharmacy practice
  • Demonstrated skills/knowledge for preparing injections & working in an aseptic environment
  • Clinical Trial experience
  • Working knowledge of GCP
  • Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation & time management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent presentation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications eg. Word and Excel.
