The West Area Inclusion Partnership exists to improve the inclusion processes, practices, and provision of its member schools through effective partnership working.

The members are the 6 West
High schools.

It will promote the educational outcomes of the children served by its schools and specifically support partner schools in the:


  • Prevention of exclusion through earlier, and effective, intervention;
  • Provision of highquality experiences to children who cannot manage in a mainstream setting at a particular point in their learning journey; and,
  • The reintegration of children into mainstream learning where they can continue to progress through, and out of, learning into education, employment or training.


We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, resilient and motivated team member who can Lead on the SEMH aspect of the provision.


Job Title:
Leader of SEMH with the West AIP**
Pay Range: SO1


Responsible to:
Leadership team


Responsible for:
Managing interventions across the West AIP and delivering within West 14


Role:


  • To support teachers and support staff in addressing the SEMH needs of all pupils through individual and group interventions at West 1
  • To analyse SEMH needs and lead upon the management and delivery of the SNAP analysis tool across the West AIP.
  • To collaborate with teaching staff to design and implement academic interventions at West 1
  • To refer to external agencies to support the educational and SEMH needs of West AIP pupils
  • Deliver training to increase awareness and understanding of SEMH issues to the West AIP

Main Duties:


Working with Pupils:


  • To establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, mentor and setting high expectations.
  • Work closely with the West 14 Manager, and teachers to ensure continuity of behaviour provision throughout the setting.
  • Lead mentoring arrangements with individual pupils or a group.
  • To work collaboratively to support West 14 students transition successfully to a new educational setting.
  • To plan and deliver West 14 mentoring sessions to equip all pupils with skills to prepare for their future.
  • To supervise pupils on visits, trips and out of school hours learning activities as required which fall within the remit and hours of the post.
  • Effectively assist with the supervision of and engagement with pupils out of lesson times, including break times and lunch times.
  • To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting concerns to an appropriate person.
  • To be aware of, support differences, and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Attend and participate in regular meetings, training and other learning activities as required.
  • To ensure promotion and support of Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety
  • To undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the post

Leading on SEMH:


  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, adjusting strategies as needed across the West AIP.
  • To manage the SNAP SEMH assessment system across the West AIP in conjunction with
Leadership.


  • To design the West AIP SEMH program to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Collaborate with Leadership on designing and implementing a holistic approach to support permanently excluded pupils.
  • To provide appropriate guidance, supervision, and assist in the training and development of
SEMH strategies and up to date practice, as appropriate.

  • To liaise with local and national SEMH organisations.
  • To recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others.

SEMH and Academic Interventions:


  • Work closely with the West 14 Manager, and teachers to identify pupils who need
SEMH and academic interventions.


  • To assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to design, develop and implement targeted SEMH and academic interventions to support identified students.
  • Participate in the comprehensive assessment of pupils to determine those in need of support.
  • To develop resources to deliver effective interventions.
  • To have regular monthly meetings with English and Maths teachers at West 14 to discuss and evaluate effectiveness of academic interventions.
