Youth Worker

Who are we:

Everton Free School and Football College provides a high quality alternative educational environment for vulnerable young people aged 13-16, and opportunities for all students' post 16 in Everton Football College.


The school is supported by and takes inspiration from the award-winning Everton in the Community charity which delivers innovative programmes to promote health, education, social inclusion and equality of opportunity across Merseyside through the power of sport.


Everton Free School and Football College offers many other specialist routes for young people including Arts, Culture and Digital Media pathways.

Students are referred to the school by other schools, academies and local authorities.

About the opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker to join a specialist taskforce who will support some of our most hard to reach students.


The programme offers intense support and positive interventions to individuals who are involved in criminality or being criminally exploited, struggling, or excluded from education, having troubles within the family home, in the care system, at risk of care or leaving the care system.


As a Youth Worker you will work with a caseload of young people, responsible for delivery and evaluation of programmes that provide personal and social development opportunities for young people.


Other key responsibilities within this role include:

  • Liaising effectively with other parties whilst working with a variety of services and programs of youth service provision, targeted services and partners where appropriate e.g., school, colleges, YOS.
  • Providing programme of activity with young people that encourage and promote the empowerment and participation of young people.
  • Contacting, advising and guiding young people in social education.
  • Work directly with students across the School, supporting students with a range of engagement strategies, designing and promoting activities for students to raise attendance and punctuality.
  • Have own transport and driving licence.
  • Be Flexible around working times.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a dynamic individual who has experience of working effectively with young people ideally in an educational setting.


We are looking for someone who has a background in youth work and will therefore have the knowledge and ability to manage challenging behaviour in a way which produces positive outcomes.


This position is on a Fixed Term contract until 28th February 2025, with the closing date of this advert being Wednesday 26th April 2023 at 23:59.
