The hourly salary for this role is £36.98 per hour inclusive of 15.5% holiday pay.
This equates to an annual salary of £13,312.80 per annum for working 12 hours per week term time only (360 hours per year).
Are you a talented and creative music teacher who wants to inspire children and young people to learn and play an instrument? Come and work for Surrey Arts - Surrey's leading provider of youth music lessons, ensembles and instrument hire.
We currently have vacancies for 4 permanent, salaried peripatetic Classroom Instrumental Music Teachers, working mostly in KS2, but with the potential to extend into KS1 and KS3 for candidates with these skills. Whole class teaching usually delivered over 30 weeks whereas group and individual teaching takes place over 33 weeks. The teacher will need to be available for 33 weeks across the academic year.
Positions are available at the following locations:
Geographical areas may be expanded to include other nearby boroughs. Two positions may be combined into one role and additional hours may also be available for teachers able to teach small group instrumental lessons.
Rewards and Benefits
The advertised salary is based on delivering whole class instrumental learning for 360 hours per year. The hours advertised are correct at present but may be subject to change due to small fluctuations in demand. Should hours change or other activities be delivered, the annual salary will be adjusted in accordance with Surrey Arts Teacher Pay Scales and to reflect actual hours worked.
About the Role
As a Classroom Instrumental Music Teacher, you will teach a range of progressive music skills to whole classes, enabling a young person to learn in an enjoyable way, to play an instrument, to sing, rap or use music technology, across a range of musical genres and traditions. You will plan teaching activities using the curriculum guidelines, set group objectives and teach during the school day.
Any additional small group teaching undertaken may be during/after the school day and/or at the weekend at various schools and music centres in Surrey. You will therefore need to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role.
