Overview of Responsibilities:


Who are we looking for?
We have a superb opportunity for an Electronics Workshop Team Leader to join the Electrical & Electronics Engineering Unit.

You will provide electrical engineering design expertise for build, test and repair capabilities of electronic assemblies/sub-assemblies and control & instrumentation cubicles for UKAEA projects and programmes.


The Electronics Workshop has the capability to work with a broad spectrum of electronic and electrical technologies to support the wide range of plant on the Culham site from many different manufacturers and of varying ages.

The Electronics Workshop Team Leader role is to manage the Electronics Workshop staff and facilities.

The job holder will advise customers on the most appropriate strategy for manufacture or repair of equipment and takes responsibility for agreeing packages of work and then delivering these on time and to budget.

As the Electronics Workshop Team Leader you will:

  • Lead and manage the Electronics Workshop Team
  • Review new and ongoing task requests and advise the customer on the appropriate strategy for manufacture or repair of equipment that takes account of the available time, technical skills, resources, and budget
  • Deliver work packages to time and to budget
  • Promote available Electronics Workshop facilities and technician resources to UKAEA stakeholders

£52,293 (inclusive of MPP) + excellent benefits including outstanding pension- Programme

Qualifications:


Skills, experience and competence required

Essential:


  • An honours degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, and relevant professional experience in an electronic engineering role. Or an HND in an Electronics/Electrical discipline, or equivalent qualification level, with a greater breadth and depth of experience/knowledge
  • Experience of managing a team of technicians
  • Experience in building, fault finding, carrying out repairs and procurement of electronic components, systems, and subassemblies
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable:


  • Line management experience
  • Experience of managing and maintaining a workshop facility.
  • Demonstrated success in working with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic research environment.
  • Experience in using CAD software for Electronics circuits and PCB design.
