Description

The Liaison Diversion and Reconnect (LDR) service is a countywide service to Kent and Medway's police custody suites, Crown and Magistrates Courts and the wider community.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Youth Coordinator post within LDR.

This is a great chance for anyone with a background working clinically with young people, in youth work, youth justice, or similar areas of work to join the team and have a hand in shaping the service provided to young people by LDR.

The Youth Coordinator will work as a member of LDR, providing screening and supported follow-up for individuals, under the age of 18, coming to the attention of the criminal justice system.

Mainly working in the community but also in police custody suites and courts, you will provide face-to-face and telephone screenings/assessments of young people, which will inform appropriate methods of disposal within or out of the criminal justice system and enhance access for these groups of vulnerable young people into multiagency support to meet their needs.

You will be referring and signposting to various services in the community so that young people can access the most appropriate support.

You will provide additional support to the young people in the community where appropriate.

You will develop effective links with a multitude of services, enabling smooth pathways through the criminal justice system and work closely with our partners.

LDR is an all-age service, providing liaison and diversion both within and out of the Criminal Justice System.

We assess individuals over the age of 10, suspected of committing a crime, with identified health and social care vulnerabilities.

The aim of the service is to reduce rates of re-offending and assist in the efficient and effective movement through the Criminal Justice System, by improving access and engagement with health and social care services.
