Description

We are seeking a proactive, dynamic individual who is a strong advocate and has expert experience / or relevant similar work experience in Patient Safety, to join the Division of Specialised Services as the Quality and Patient Safety Lead (Band 7 AFC).

As a key member of the Division at University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation trust the post holder will be responsible for providing support to clinical staff and managers in all aspects of quality and patient safety.

They will ensure that systems and processes are in place to support a systematic approach to reporting, assessment, investigation, analysis, evaluation and management of clinical and non
- clinical risk. This includes management of adverse incidents when they occur.


The post holder will ensure all serious incidents are investigated and all local incidents are investigated in a timely manner, ensuring that all learning is disseminated.

The post holder will provide highly competent professional advice on the protection of patients, staff, and visitors to ensure patient safety remains a priority.

In common with all members of the Division, they will be expected to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key individuals within a multi-disciplinary/professional context, e.g.

(but not limited to) Executive Directors, Divisional Directors, Divisional Governance Leads, Managers, Clinical Chairs and staff from a range of disciplines and seniority, as well as external stakeholders such as patient leaders, patient safety partners and healthcare system partners.

As an expert in patient safety the post-holder will play a lead role in all aspects of risk reduction including:
Participating as an expert in systems-focused patient safety incident investigations

Effective governance of patient safety response processes and learning outputs

Education and development to improve the safety of patients

Risk management and assurance reporting

The post holder will provide leadership, guidance, and expertise within the wider multi
- professional team for clinical governance and risk management. This will include putting in place frameworks to ensure that the Division of Specialised Services meets the Trust standards for clinical governance.
