Meraki Talent are delighted to be engaged on the role of IFRS Strategic Business Partner for a Global Asset Management business based in Edinburgh.

The role is offering up to £65,000 per annum + bonus and additional benefits.


The Company
The business has undergone a period of change and restructuring in recent years. Having consolidated its position, it is now looking to drive accountability and performance across all areas.

This is the premise with which the short to medium term strategy is predicated and the new IFRS Strategic Business Partner will play a key role in delivering this.


The Role


The IFRS Strategic Business Partner will report into the Head of Accounting Policy & Advisory for this area of the business.

The successful individual will be part of a technical accounting team responsible for a portfolio of strategic businesses cases.

You will ensure all relevant IFRS accounting issues are considered, their impact fully understood and business opportunities are maximised in each case.

Moreover, you will be tasked with anticipating any emerging IFRS issues and reporting on the impact these may have on the Group's IFRS results.

Once this impact is assessed, you will play a major role in implementing any new standards throughout the business, ensuring the relevant controls are embedded and the requisite reporting/evidence is provided.


Duties

  • Participate in strategic projects ensuring all relevant IFRS accounting issues are considered, their impact fully understood and business opportunities are maximised
  • Involved in adhoc business projects as required and provide IFRS accounting advice and guidance
  • Act as a point of contact for areas across the Group for IFRS technical accounting queries
  • Participate in the development of the Group's IFRS external reporting to the market, including the reporting of performance metrics
  • Research into current and emerging IFRS technical accounting issues and assess their impact on the Group's IFRS results
  • Contribute to the implementation of new standards across the Group
  • Ensure that internal controls operate effectively and adequate evidence is provided

The Person

The successful individual will have the following profile:

  • Qualified accountant (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Strong IFRS knowledge
  • Experience of working in Financial Services or with an FS portfolio (practice)
  • Strong track record of presenting to a variety of stakeholders, with an ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships
  • Highly analytically minded with an ability to challenge the status quo in a diplomatic manner
  • Change management or project experience is desirable but not essential
You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, in a varied role.

Moreover, you will like problem solving, adapting to an ever-changing landscape and be willing to get out in the business and build credibility with your colleagues.
