    Description

    Required for a September 2024 start, this is an exciting opportunity for you to develop your career, implement new strategies and lead our already successful French department within our Modern Foreign Languages faculty. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher, experienced in raising attainment, with strong leadership skills and full of energy and enthusiasm for their subject.

    This is a brilliant personal development opportunity and could provide valuable leadership experience for someone looking to progress in their teaching career. Your teaching allocation will be reduced by two hours per fortnight for this role.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Have a passion for the teaching and learning of French across all key stages
    • Have excellent subject knowledge
    • Be an effective team player and value every aspect of the life of the school
    • Have effective interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire students
    • Be an active learner, who constantly strives to improve, with the desire to progress
    • Have effective lesson and curriculum planning skills so that languages appeal to students of all abilities
    • Have a strong understanding of data related to student progress
    • Have a strong understanding of how and when to plan effective intervention
    • Demonstrate an ability to encourage student uptake of French
    • Be expected to develop extracurricular opportunities for students studying French

    Leadership duties for the successful candidate will include:

    • Curriculum and assessment planning and evaluation
    • Monitoring and assessing student data at KS3, KS4 and KS5
    • Developing extracurricular opportunities for students
    • Driving uptake at KS4 and KS5
    • Developing targets each year for the French department to grow
    • Overseeing an effective interventions program
