This is a varied role where you will be working as part of the management team responsible for delivering an efficient public realm maintenance service that complies with statutory obligations.

About the role
We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our comprehensive Streetscene Team.


The post holder will assist the Streetscene management team in meeting the ambitious income generation targets set by the Council and provide a commercially viable service.


  • To assist with the scheduling and delivery of the section's work programmes and to ensure that the objectives are achieved within the resources allocated, including recording of completed work.
  • To ensure teams carry out daily preparation of vehicle and plant, recording, reporting and (where appropriate) rectifying defects and complete vehicle logs every day.
  • Responsible for the safe and effective use of machines, vehicles, tools and equipment used to perform public realm maintenance, carrying out and recording formal inspections of works
  • To monitor and control the work of Streetscene maintenance teams (including sub[1]contractors) on site as required.
  • To plan, programme and direct the works of allocated team(s), including managing the workforce on site and to work alongside Streetscene staff where necessary to assist in completion of work schedules on time and to a high standard.
  • To assist in the management of commercial contracts, ensuring that they are delivered on time and to a high standard

About you
Specific requirements

  • A full UK driving licence min Cat: C
  • Experience of using mechanical plant and equipment
  • Preferable min. NVQ level 2 in related field.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act and it's guidelines.
  • Experience in managing or overseeing work schedules.
  • A wide range of experience of dealing with the public, their enquiries and complex cases.
  • Ability to communicate to a wide range of people both verbally and in written form.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office systems especially outlook, word, TEAMS and excel.
