The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession. We hold the national registers of over 229,000 Engineering Technicians (EngTech), Incorporated Engineers (IEng), Chartered Engineers (CEng) and Information and Communications Technology Technicians (ICT_
Tech_
).
In addition, the Engineering Council sets and maintains the internationally recognised standards of professional competence and ethics that govern the award and retention of these titles.
This ensures that employers, government, and wider society - both in the UK and overseas - can have confidence in the knowledge, experience and commitment of professionally registered engineers and technicians.
We are seeking a QMS Executive to support the Engineering Council in monitoring data protection compliance and administering its Quality Management System.
You will be accountable for acting as Data Protection lead for the organisation, managing the complaints procedure and supporting and administering quality management procedures and the Project Management Office (PMO) function.
Key responsibilities
- Data Protection Lead for the organisation, including routing reporting
- Ownership of related Data and Compliance policies and procedures
- Supporting and administering quality management and PMO activities
- Be involved and undertake secretariat duties
- Process reviews as required
- Engage with internal staff training
- Administrative support to the department
Experience and Key Technical Skills
- Experience of data protection compliance and GDPR
- Strong IT skills, particularly MS Office
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- Able to produce readable, factual reports
- Demonstrable attention to detail
- Ability to follow processes
- Able to manage relationships effectively
- Intuitive anticipates needs
- Proactive in seeking continual improvement
Person Specification:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including good presentation skills
- High degree of IT literacy including standard Office packages
- Excellent organisational skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a lively and enthusiastic approach
- Able to demonstrate good attention to detail
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise and the flexibility to respond positively to changes in priority and deadlines.
