The Priory Retirement Village based in Abbotskerswell, Devon is on the lookout for a part-time Maintenance/Grounds AssistantHours: 22.5 hours a week (3 days), including Saturdays on a rota basisSalary:
£13.50 per hour.
As a Maintenance/Grounds Assistant at our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall well-being and satisfaction of our residents by maintaining and enhancing the physical environment of the community.
Your responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing residents' service requests, and assisting in various projects to create a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing living space.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and common areasEnsure that all open areas of the grounds, including grassed areas, beds, woodlands, boundary fences, roadways, paths, and paved areas are properly maintained to a high standard Ensure proper functioning of lighting, elevators and emergency systemsAddress and resolve residents' maintenance requests promptly and efficientlyBe available for on-call duties in case of emergencies Ensure outdoor furniture and amenities are clean and in good condition Communicate effectively with residents and staff regarding maintenance schedules, disruptions, and planned activitiesTo report immediately any defects or faults which may compromise the safety of residentsUndertake regular inspections and monthly checks of the Village Painting and DecoratingResponsible for treating roads and pathways with salt/grit when necessary during winter months Ensure the structure, fixtures, fittings, and equipment of the Village are properly maintainedWhat we are looking for?Previous experience in maintenance/ gardening or a related field is preferredBasic knowledge of general maintenance tasksAbility to use hand and power tools safelyStrong communication and interpersonal skillsPhysical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objectsWillingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challengesIn return we offer a number of benefits including, Private Medical Insurance, Pension Scheme, Enhanced Annual Leave, Birthday Leave, Rewards Schemes, Volunteering and Well-Being days.
