Description

The Single Point of Access (SPA) service, has been designed to provide young people with expert help from one easy access point, and is run by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

This was a new service, launched in 2017 as part of the CAMHS Transformation Plan for Somerset.

The SPA aims to help young people before they need to access CAMHS - offering more support in the community, schools and online - and by educating other people (e.g. schools) to help them.

The SPA will be responsible for all screening of referrals including signposting, offering information, telephone triage and where necessary telephone/video/face to face assessments to ascertain need.

The post holder will work as part of the Single Point of Access team across the partnership and have specific responsibilities as a SPA Senior Practitioner:

  • All staff and agencies within Somerset CAMHS, other Mental Health Services, Voluntary Organisations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work as part of the SPA team undertaking direct/indirect assessments and consultations, offering advice, signposting and undertaking the appropriate assessment of risk.
  • To support the SPA Clinical Lead in the delivery of the service, ensuring it meets national guidance and local key performance indicators.
  • To provide clinical supervision if appropriate and as required.
  • To support students where appropriate and as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The central base for the SPA hub will be at the Horizon Centre in Taunton with some travel across Somerset to deliver assessments, for meetings or training.
  • The post holder's office base will be in an open plan office with other team members from the Early Intervention services. There will be access to rooms for supervision and clinical assessments.
