Job summary:


The main objective of this role is to ensure that the Training and Education (T&E) outputs of the DCA are appropriate, efficient, effective and, most importantly, safe.


In this, the Training Support Manager will direct, guide and coordinate all DCA T&E outputs in accordance with Joint Service Publication 822 and the DefAc Management of Training and Education System (MTES).


The role will ensure that the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) process within the DCA is properly managed and governed through the Customer Executive Boards (CEB) and CEB Working Groups.

CEBs meet twice yearly in Mar/Apr and in Sept/Oct with the aim of reviewing training requirements, agreeing training levels and targets, examining results of recent and future assurance activities and to highlight any emerging issues and risks.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week


Job description:


The main functions of this role are to:

  • Act as Secretary for the DCA CEB and CEB working groups. For each CEB to operate effectively it is essential that supporting information is collated and distributed to members prior to the CEBs. This will enable the meeting to be focused towards training delivery, compliance & assurance, the Statement of Training Requirement (SOTR) and Statement of Training Target (SOTT) figures, statistics on pass rates and trends.
  • Act as the DCA lead for T&E Assurance, Evaluation, Audit & Inspection.
  • Liaise with the Defence Trainer Manager (DTM) regarding Directing Staff (DS) formal teaching observations. Ensuring all DS are compliant with DSAT teaching qualifications.
  • Ensure that the DCA Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Portfolio Assurance Management System (PAMS) are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Support the DCMCI Chief Operating Officer (COO) and SO1 Business Manager (SO1 BM) in ensuring the Faculty fulfils its responsibilities with the Academic Provider (AP) contract through the Academic Provider Governance Group (APGG). Attend the monthly AP Management Board.

Person specification:


To ensure a greater understanding of the Defence T&E sector, completion of the Defence System Approach to Training (Manager) & 2nd Party Audit courses are a requirement to ensure proficiency & competence in the role.

These courses are held at the DefAc and must be successfully completed within 6 months of taking up the position.


Experience:

  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including wordprocessing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets.
