Within GEMS' Business Unit, GEM UK manages assets and product portfolios related to power, gas, and emissions in the UK markets, actively supporting the country's ambitious path to a net zero economy.

About the role:

The trader will be in charge of managing (flexible) positions coming from GEM UK internal and external clients. The main objective is leveraging through trading positions to produce positive PL while bordering the risk with appropriate strategies.

The risk carried out will be monitored through trading classical indicators and will have to cope with risk mandate requirements.

ENGIE are recruiting for a
Junior Energy Options Trader based
in London, with the possibility of training periods in GEMS offices in Brussels and/or Paris.

This is a Permanent role, working full time. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

The Desk will participate to develop trust and cooperation within GEM BU and with other Engie BU.

Based on its perimeter defined by Head of Desk, the Junior Energy Trader will:

Primarily value and manage renewable power and exotic risk across the curve
Manage/optimize term positions (Outright and Options)
Manage flexibility and options (Clean Spark Spread options, power and gas options)
Back up trading team in various desk tasks (Cross border interconnectors, client flow, etc)
Ensure performance of books under its perimeter and related reporting
Operate within the approved risk mandate.
Ensure backup for other traders
Propose improvement of models, processes & tools and follow up implementation
Promote team spirit and constructive relationship within the desk and with other GEMS teams, in particular Quants and Traders in central teams

Key Requirements:

Demonstrable experience and understanding of energy markets, financial mathematics, and option theory
Cooperative, Autonomous, Creative, Reliable, Analytical, resilient to stress
Excel/VBA/Python knowledge and coding aptitude
Fluent in English (French would be a plus)
