Learning and Development Manager
Circa £35,000, Burgess Hill, 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday, 20 days annual leave + Christmas shutdown + bank holidays, Medical Insurance, Life Assurance, Pension, Parking


The Role


A brand new opportunity has arisen to join a long-established successful and quickly growing business within the construction and manufacturing sector as a Learning and Development Manager.

The purpose of the is to be accountable for the design and deliveryof a group wide learning strategy that facilities the ongoing growth and development of the company's people and improves company performance.


  • Develop and implement a businesswide learning strategy
  • Engage with senior managers to create a framework which enables learning requirements across the Group and to be identified.
  • Review and devise effective and costefficient solutions to meet the learning requirements using a mixture of internal, external and online delivery platforms.
  • Plan and implement a specific senior leaders and managers development programme.
  • Facilitate the delivery of inspiring inhouse training sessions and take responsibility for delivering certain training sessions as required.
  • To source external training delivery suppliers, agree a clear scope, and contract manage to ensure return on investment.
  • Maximise the use of training options provided through the CITB, and identify effective learning solutions to aid process improvement and quality output within the manufacturing environment.
  • Encourage and influence the development of a coaching culture across the Group to aid continual development.
  • Review and develop the Group's onboarding programme to ensure all new (and newly transferred/promoted) employees are fully supported, integrated and aligned into their role and the business.
  • Develop an apprenticeship scheme for roles across the business (construction, manufacturing and office based) to recruit and train future talent and develop careers.
  • Introduce a programme which encourages career development, including pathways and mentoring schemes.
  • Review learning and development identified as part of the annual performance review process and feed into Group learning and development plan.
  • Create and manage a framework for assessing, measuring and tracking the success of the learning and development programmes against our learning objectives.
  • Ensure all training records/evidence is maintained and remains up to date.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience in a similar role and of implementing a learning and development plan to deliver growth.
  • Experience of coordinating and organising training programmes and rolling out learning and development solutions to all levels across the business. (Experience of doing this within a construction or manufacturing environment would be an advantage).
  • Ability to design training course content to suit company needs.
  • Ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinator, monitor and evaluate).
  • Well organised with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a good track record of building rapport with all levels across the business.
  • Selfmotivated with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Good IT skills.
