Hours:
Full time - 37 hours per week


Contract:
Fixed Term until 31st March 2023

Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the South West offering housing, support and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other problems. Our goal is to inspire hope and deliver change for everybody and every community we work with.


Changing Futures - Second Step is the lead agency, in a partnership of organisations, chosen by Bristol City Council, to deliver the DLUHC Changing Futures programme in Bristol to support people facing multiple disadvantage, including discrimination, homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health, drug and alcohol and contact with the criminal justice system.

  • The Programme's aims are:
  • To improve the way that local systems and services work for people experiencing multiple disadvantage and who are traditionally not well served by services
  • To use the learning from this to influence future government programmes and policy The focus of the programme is on achieving a lasting impact through cultural and system change.
  • Coproduction with people with lived experience of multiple disadvantage, partnership working, and embedding equality, diversity and inclusion are central throughout the programme.

Independent Futures - (IF) is a group of members with personal lived experience of multiple disadvantage at various points on their journey. The group works both within Bristol and nationally to make a positive impact on systems through collaboration with organisations.

  • We are looking for a Peer Trainee who is willing to contribute to IF's work by supporting the members and acting as a positive role model for lived experience collaboration.

About the role:


  • In this role, you'll support the group's members activity, development and progression. You will join a team including a manager, a training lead and a coordinator who will support your activity and your acquisition of core professional skills. This traineeship will equip you with the essential competencies for a wide variety of standard roles.

About you:


  • Someone who has Lived Experience of the issues faced by people who experience multiple disadvantages and who understands how to empower people and promote positive change. Someone who is passionate about learning, wellbeing and recovery.
