We are seeking a highly motivated, well organised and goal driven individual to join a newly established Gene Therapy Innovation & Manufacturing Centre (GTIMC).

The Head of Operations role provides an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of the GTIMC's Vision.


The GTIMC is one of three cutting-edge innovation hubs in the UK dedicated to advancing the clinical development of new genetic treatments for millions of patients with life-threatening diseases.

The three hubs form a national network coordinated by the LifeArc and the Medical Research Council (MRC).


You will plan and progress work activities in the mid to long term, be well organised, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage and influence effectively across multiple audiences.


You will work closely with and assist the Director of GTIMC in leading on strategic functions of the Centre which will include managing staff, aligning service provision with strategic objectives including planning and policy development, developing and delivering efficient and effective processes and service improvements.

You will be responsible for managing and overseeing a range of administrative processes, which are crucial to the efficient and effective running of the Department's activities including:

  • Human Resources (HR)
  • Resource Planning
  • Estates and Facilities
  • Health and Safety
  • Governance
  • Finance


Day to day you will be contributing more generally to the Centre by coordinating business processes, overseeing internal communications, undertaking one-off project work and developing and implementing improvements.

You will work closely with senior leadership and professional services colleagues and with central University teams.

This post is fixed term for 36 months with potential for further extension and is available immediately.
