ModuSpec first introduced the concept of rig inspection to the market in 1986 and over the past 37 years, has been providing unrivalled rig intake & inspection and market leading BOP compliance & verification services.


We provide assurance and technical advice that supports the improvement of drilling operations, including the performance and compliance of rig equipment, the competency of the people and robustness of the management systems in place.


Our focus is on a customised approach, working together with our client and the drilling contractor to challenge the traditional way of working to improve efficiency during the rig selection, inspection, and acceptance process.

We are looking for a
Commercial Lead to join our ModuSpec business, located in Aberdeen.

You will join a successful and growing business to support the business development function, including managing bid and tender development and processes, dealing with existing contracts to ensure optimal conditions for the business and aid marketing and client engagement efforts.


With direct accountability to the Operations Manager (OM), you will join a flat organisational structure and you will be required to work alongside the Business Development Managers (BDM) as part of your day-to-day role.

In the role of
Commercial Lead, you will work on the following:
Tenders & proposals

  • Lead proposal and tender development; working in conjunction with the BDMs and technical team to ensure client requirements are well understood and the ModuSpec value proposition is clearly articulated to ensure continued success. Manage input to online tender systems.
  • Lead development of the commercial model and clarifications including liaising with internal stakeholders such as tax, legal, HSEQ and finance teams.
  • Manage proposal and tender deadlines to ensure timely submission with input from BDMs and technical colleagues.
  • Adhere to the bid/no bid process and delegation of authority to ensure proposals and tenders are approved by the appropriate party including arranging specific meetings and presenting key commercial aspects.
  • Attend client meetings where required to understand requirements.
Commercial

  • Manage existing contracts to ensure key points are communicated and visible to business development, operations, and finance colleagues. Initiate discussions with clients in a timely manner to achieve rate increases or a better contractual position.
  • Support the coordination and management of regional agents and business partners including in the process of reconciliation.
  • Check draft purchase orders and calloff agreements in line with proposal and tender submission, to ensure they meet internal approvals and requirements.
  • Monitor spend on purchase orders and liaise with finance colleagues to ensure the business can achieve timely and smooth invoicing.
  • Support the Operations Manager with invoice disputes, overdue invoices, and debt collection.
Marketing and client engagement/entertainment

  • Aid the Marketing team to publish white papers, case studies and other marketing material.
  • Support client engagement events such as conferences and exhibitions including client entertainment.
To be successful in the role of
Commercial Lead we are looking for you to have the following:

  • An appropriate qualification (business administration etc.) is preferable but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in a similar role.
  • A strong work ethic and organisational skills ability to work and engage multiple stakeholders (internal/external) to meet deadlines.
  • A proven track record in working with proposals and tenders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a good listener.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • A strong team spirit and ability to demonstrate professional people skills.
  • Flexible approach to adjust role as the position develops.
