    We are pleased to recruit an enthusiastic band a Clinical Psychologist, with a keen interest in working with children with a learning disability to join our School-Aged Learning Disabilities Service and the Preschool Development Team in Wrexham. We also welcome applications from those seeking the opportunity to join at Band and follow a development route to the a position.

    Your ability to provide specialist psychological support to children with disabilities and their families will be vital to the multidisciplinary teams. You will be part of a vibrant wider Child Psychology Service which emphasises quality improvement and research. We are looking to recruit someone with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to build relationships within the teams they support. Previous experience of working within Learning Disability and challenging behaviour settings would be desirable, however we would also be keen to hear from applicants whose post qualification experience has involved working with other client groups.

    Main duties of the job

    To provide a specialised clinical psychology service to clients of the sector, providing specialised psychological assessment and therapy to clients.

    To work autonomously in accordance with The British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines , and Health and Care Professions Council.

    Within the team, to exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of assistant psychologists and the workload of trainees, within the framework of the team/service policies and procedures.

    To contribute to the development of local team policies and procedures in order to facilitate improvement in service quality.

    To advise service and professional management on aspects of the service related to the team where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.

    To provide professional and clinical supervision for designated staff, as appropriate.

    To provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee clinical psychologists and to deliver training to other professionals.

    To utilise specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.

    To act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff, as appropriate.

    The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
