- Program, set and operate 3 & 4 axis CNC Hurco Mills
- Programming and Operating Hurco machining centre with Conversational controls, creating programs from engineering drawings.
- Producing components in batches ranging from 1offs up to 100s off (depending on the customers' requirements), with sizes for each component being circa 3" to 4".
- Max of 2 weeks on a single job, down to half day job changes.
- Machining to tight tolerances from general engineering materials to hardened metals.
- Optimise historical jobs to improve cycle times, reduce operations, reduce hand deburring by increasing deburring on the CNC, and improve component quality.
- Ensure machinists perform work area cleanliness and maintenance checks in accordance with relevant checklists.
- Maintain electronic setup sheets and storing of CNC programs.
- Maintain organised and tidy storage system for used cutters (drive culture to use used tools before new tools are ordered)
- Adhere to company policies, including health & safety, and quality control.
- Play an active role in Continuous Improvement, suggesting any improvements that could be implemented.
- Time-served, and ideally apprentice trained, in precision engineering.
- Able to create programs on the machine, reading technical drawings.
- A methodical and systematic approach to tasks.
- Good communicator, verbally and written.
- Keen attention to detail and focused on driving results.
- CNC Milling (3axis, up to 4 axis would be an advantage)
- Minimum 5 years CNC milling experience.
- High-speed machining experience.
- Being conversant with conversational controls (ideally with Hurco experience).
- Previous experience in a subcontract manufacturing environment (Aerospace background would be ideal).
- 39hrs per week
- Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4.30pm and Friday 7.30am – 3pm
- Lots of overtime available, paid at x1.25hrs weekdays and x1.5hrs Saturdays
