    Associate Consultant - Edinburgh, United Kingdom - Lane Clark & Peacock

    What will you be doing?

  • Desktop research into transition topics, such as smart tariffs, behind-the-meter new energy technologies, novel business models, and commercial strategy
  • Interviewing relevant companies and other stakeholders, to get at "hard to reach" insights
  • Producing reports, spreadsheets, databases, in line with client needs, including both quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Developing your project management skill and / or leading projects
  • Building relationships with industry contacts on behalf of LCP Delta, developing client relationships and contributing to the development of the business
  • Becoming a thought leader, identifying trends and sharing insight on New Energy Strategies topics
  • What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?

  • You should have a background in the retail energy sector, ideally with good knowledge of the European energy market. Germany, Italy and Spain are of special interest. It can have been gained in either a retail energy company, start-up, or policy environment
  • You will ideally have a relevant BSc, MSc, or MBA qualification or equivalent experience
  • You must be passionate about the transition, and keen to help accelerate it
  • Proficient writing skills, perhaps gained in the equity investment or even journalist sectors, are of particular interest
  • You should have a good grounding in general analysis and research, including effective interviewing skills
  • A commercial mindset would be helpful. Our clients are mainly companies, looking to capitalise on the opportunities thrown up by the transition; so, you should be keen to help them succeed
  • You should have an ability to distil your ideas into a clear vision, simplifying from a position of expertise and knowledge, to create compelling strategic ideas
  • Policy and regulatory matters are always important in the energy sector, so knowledge and insight here, along with a degree of pragmatism, would also be helpful
  • You should also be curious, open-minded, and excited to explore new topics that you have no prior knowledge of
  • You are expected to have excellent communication skills. An essential part of this role is to be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications
  • You should be able to present confidently and explain complex issues to others
  • Commercial acumen – the ability to think commercially about the needs of our clients
  • You should be highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint and ideally have experience in using PowerBI
  • The research service provides data, qualitative analysis, and opinion to help subscribing companies make important decisions on where to focus and how to develop customer-centric propositions.
