Join us as a Streaming Site Reliability Engineer

  • Working in our Data & Analytics Service function, you'll collaborate with a range of colleagues to deliver the Streaming as a Service platform used by multiple teams for critical and realtime business user cases
  • Participating actively in the data engineering community, you'll deliver opportunities to support our strategic direction while building your network across the bank
What you'll do

In your new role, you'll support our business customers through the software development life cycle by engineering the design, development, testing and implementation of our Streaming as a Service offering.

You'll drive value for your customers through modelling, sourcing and data transformation, collaborating with our core technology and architecture teams to deliver strategic data solutions and drive the adoption of Agile and DevOps in the data engineering space.


Day to day, you'll be:

  • Debugging production issues and maintaining high levels of performance across services and all levels of the stack
  • Helping to progress the growth of the infrastructure, improving system resilience, performance and stability
  • Driving consistency of technology usage by continuously reviewing existing toolsets and code and championing the reuse of components
  • Automating data engineering pipelines through the removal of manual stages
  • Educating and embedding new data techniques into the business through role modelling, training and experimental design oversight

The skills you'll need
We're looking for an intermediate level programmer and data engineer with a qualification in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

You'll also demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of data usage and dependencies and bring experience of extracting valueand features from large data sets.


You'll also need:

  • Experience in ETL technical design, automated data quality testing, data warehousing, data modelling and data wrangling
  • Extensive experience using RDMS, ETL pipelines, Python, Hadoop and SQL
  • A good understanding of modern code development practices
  • Good critical thinking and problemsolving skills
Exposure to Oracle, Unix scripting, Java, Cloud, API, NoSQL and Kafka would be helpful.
