We're looking for bold and brilliant people - if that's you, we want to hear from you.

About us

In the Children and Families Directorate we are looking for a bold and ambitious Head of Strategic Governance, Planning & Information to join our new and expanding senior management team.

We're embarking on a one-of-a-kind journey that will affect families across Birmingham, and there is no bigger, or more exciting place to work right now.

We envision a city where all children and young people thrive.

If you are looking for your next challenge and have the passion to secure the very best opportunities for children and young people, join us, and lead a compassionate and dedicated team advocating for children and families across Birmingham.

About the role

Putting children, young people and families across Birmingham first at all times, you'll manage the Strategy, Partnership and Improvement functions for your Directorate, encouraging a high-performance culture by motivating, influencing, and developing your team.

You'll represent the Council to external agencies, ensuring that strategic plans are outcome focused and policies are established with children, young people and families at their heart.

About you

An established leader with a relevant professional qualification, you'll have significant experience of successfully solving complex issues and developing effective and strategic direction.

You'll have a demonstrable track record of operating improvement programmes, and of providing clear advice on policy options and policy development.

Capable of communicating key messages to colleagues and the public, you'll have honed influencing, negotiating, and motivating skills.

You'll have the ability to lead multi-agency projects and initiatives, manage teams of people, and set clear objectives for your directorate.

As a leader you'll be experienced, driven, creative and a passionate advocate for children and young people.

You'll work to instil a culture that values compassion, high-performance, and inclusivity, shaping and developing the skills of your team so that each and every person can get the most from their role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a team going through a huge transformation, and to improve outcomes for children, young people, and their families across Birmingham.
