Focus 5 Recruitment are looking for a Strategist to work in a leading Social Media Agency based in Manchester (hybrid working).

This is a senior role in which the Strategist will help develop and execute effective strategies to use across different social media platforms (and in some cases broader digital marketing areas) in order to create a competitive advantage for their clients.


This Strategist role involves understanding audiences, designing social and digital communication plans, analysing performance metrics and staying up-to-date with industry developments.

It would really suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively and has a blend of creativity, strategic thinking & analytical skills.

Role Responsibilities for Strategist:

The role is responsible for delivering outcomes across 3 key areas:
Research and Insight

  • Use audience segmentation methods and tools to create distinct audiences and then develop detailed profiles for each segment understanding how they use social to navigate categories looking at each stage of the customer journey and including intel on characteristics, needs, motivations, and communication preferences.
  • Audit brands social media presence from a quality and quant perspective taking into account core competitors, emerging competitors and best practice.
  • Keep the team and wider agency updated on industry trends, algorithm changes, and emerging platforms to recommend innovative strategies that align with clients' business objectives.
Strategy and Planning

  • Help clients set SMART objectives which align social and digital to their broader business and marketing goals.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies that use various platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) to achieve clients' goals and objectives.
  • Create and inform articles and presentations on areas such as: changing social media landscape and social's impact on specific topics.
  • Create and brief strategic platforms which enable and excite creators to deliver fresh campaign concepts.
  • Collaborate with our specialist Creator team to help inform and direct:
  • Engaging and relevant content calendars, including copy, visuals, and multimedia elements, tailored to each platform and target audience.
  • Brand voice, brand behaviours, and key messages, translating them into compelling social media content.
  • Paid social media advertising campaigns, optimizing budgets and targeting to achieve maximum ROI.
  • Research and identify influencers or partners for collaboration opportunities to enhance brand exposure.
Measurement and Effectiveness

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on the performance of social media campaigns using relevant tools and metrics, setting benchmarks and targets, and adjusting strategies based on insights.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for social media improvements and optimizations based on performance intelligence and industry best practices.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships through regular communication and updates on campaign performance.

Experience for Strategist role:

  • 4 years + of client strategy work
  • Experience in social media management or related role is preferred but other creative industries considered.
  • Experience within an agency setting with examples of previous successful creative campaigns and projects.
