Assistant Operations Support Officer

Grade 4/5 - £24,687 to £28,750 based on experience.


This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced, dynamic, forward thinking IT Shared Service as an Assistant Operation Support officer.

You will be assisting the team to manage the 1000+ Users IT equipment supporting Laptops, PC's, Android and iOS devices alongside other critical systems.


The Team


The Operations Support Team is part of a shared IT Service between Test Valley Borough Council and Winchester City Council.

The team are responsible for managing the 2nd line activities providing desktop and configuration management to both Councils.


The team are made up of professional, friendly, and supportive colleagues and work closely with both our first line Service Desk team and the 3rd line Operations and Applications engineers providing high quality customer service to all users.

What you will be doing
This role will work alongside already established Operation Support Officers to:

  • Resolve a variety of 2nd line technical hardware, software issues, escalating to 3rd line and 3rd parties where required.
  • Provide customer facing support at two main office locations and also at various remote sites. Provide expert level support for all end user devices which includes PC, Laptops, Tablet, Phones, Peripheral hardware and Operating System software.
  • You will adhere to approved procedures to manage modern devices using the Microsoft Intune & 365 platforms.
  • Protect and secure all devices and respond to cyber security threats as part of a team in accordance with IT policy and procedures.
  • Act as the main support for the user to embrace new devices.
  • Ensure all IT assets are managed appropriately and accurately using the Asset Management software. This will include changes from delivery, storage, tracking, audits, and disposals. You will work with other IT teams to track down any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all storerooms are kept clean, organised and stock levels for spares meet demand.

Expectations


Ideally you will have previous experience of working in an IT support role with a focus on user device management and have a passion for IT and supporting users.

For those that do not have all the required skills to hit the ground running, the role could also suit an individual that is ready to move into a second line role with previous experience working in an IT service.

Whilst the role is based out of our Andover office and Winchester office, you will also attend remote sites where required.

Access to a vehicle and a full driving license are therefore essential at grade 5.
