    Description

    Purpose of the post:

    Responsible to the Operational Area Manager for day-to-day supervision of relevant Cleansing gangs they are working within.

    The post holder is responsible for the following:

    • Ensure delivery of the routine work programme and respond to service requests as directed ensuring all available resources are utilised with maximum efficiency.
    • The post holder is classed 'hands-on' and will be expected to cover all team activities and duties which include but are not limited to general maintenance and cleansing of the adopted environment including manual sweeping or litter picking.
    • Collection and removal of waste, searching waste for evidence, land clearance, removal of weeds, dirt, detritus and leaves, removal of fly posting, fly tipping, graffiti and dog fouling. Additional seasonal tasks may include snow clearance and gritting the highway, toilet cleaning and routine maintenance.
    • Ensure all work undertaken by the gangs is in accordance with correct working practices with adherence to health and safety requirements.
    • Ensure the correct, efficient, safe and secure loading/unloading storage of all waste materials, tools, equipment and machinery at all times.
    • Control a local inventory and the issuing of equipment and consumables ensuring operatives have what they require for the role. Ensure equipment and consumables are looked after and only appropriate amounts are drawn and used.
    • Driving vehicles up to 7.5 tonne adhering to all driver policy requirements.
    • Day to day maintenance of equipment and vehicles as required, i.e. driver's checks, cleaning, etc.
    • Carrying out duties adhering to Chapter 8 requirements if applicable.
    • Regular contact and supervision of adult service users, occasional contact with Ward Members.
    • Preparation and support for local and major events/functions such as
    • National Air Show & concerts or student departure from HMO's.
    • Deputise for Area Manager in their absence such as during annual leave.
