Description

We have an exciting opportunity for two dynamic, passionate and drive Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapists to joint our Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team, based in Hounslow.

This post is ideal for a Band 5 therapist looking to progress to a specialist level, or an experienced Band 6 therapist.

We are seeking inspired and enthusiastic therapists to be a part of our close-working team, and who can help to drive the future of our service.

You will be joining a professional, friendly, and experienced team at the Heart of Hounslow, who can provide a range of opportunities for learning and development.

We are an innovative team, with a specialist community neuro and voice service, close links to local hospitals with invitations to attend outpatient VFSS, and service development opportunities including group therapy, nursing home training and roll-out and audit of Biozoon.

We provide a full trust induction programme, including provision of laptop, mobile and mandatory training.

Our team offers well-established monthly supervision and appraisal, with opportunities to lead on supervision for junior team members and support student placements.

You will have access to a local base, agile working, and a team of supportive colleagues within the MDT with a range of skills and knowledge.

We carry out monthly SLT service meetings, engage in monthly in-service and cross-service CPD, and we also offer weekly case study discussions.

In this role, you will provide specialist communication and dysphagia assessment and therapy as an autonomous practitioner, and at times jointly with wider members of the MDT.

You will develop and build on skills in the management of progressive neurological conditions, such as MND, PSP and HD, with opportunities to engage in voice-banking, close working with dietetics in complex dysphagia/feeding, and specialist AAC service Compass.

Alongside the rest of the team, you will provide shared support to the Hounslow Neuro-Timely service, where patients are offered intensive therapy 3 times per week for up to 6 weeks.

This role has opportunities to provide training programmes to nursing and care staff in the community, support the development and running of group therapy, and active engagement in the planning, development, and delivery of an effective service.

Community healthcare is unlike any other part of the NHS. It's personalised care that helps people to retain their independence. It's the NHS at its best and the difference you make is truly tangible.

Our colleagues often describe us as a family, and we know how important that sense of belonging and support is when you start a new job.

It's simple - happy, engaged staff provide better services.

In 2018, we were named 'Best Place to Work for Employee Satisfaction' by the Nursing Times. The same year, we won the Workforce category at the HSJ Awards. In the latest NHS Staff Survey results 2020, we had the best response rate amongst community trusts nationally.

We are the top community trust in the country on the theme Quality of care for the third year.

We had the highest percentage of staff who felt they are able to deliver the care they aspire to and are satisfied with the quality of care they give to patients or service users.

Infection Control

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination uptake as this remains the best line of defence against COVID19.
