Background
Campus Services (CS) employs over 900 staff with a turnover exceeding £57m in the last financial year.

CS plays a key role in the quality of the student, staff, and visitor experience, providing services across diverse areas such as the University's sporting facilities, food and beverage, cleaning, community safety and security, conferencing, hotel operations, day nurseries, portering, post, branded and own-brand retail outlets, visitor services and attractions (e.g., Winterbourne House & Gardens), student housing, transport, waste disposal and recycling.

CS is a highly commercial organisation operating within the University context and has an ambitious strategic agenda, in terms of growing our service profile across both our Birmingham and Dubai campuses.


Role Summary


As a Graphic Designer at University of Birmingham you will be an integral part of the Campus Services Marketing & Communications team.

Your role will involve creating a variety of engaging online and offline design materials that contribute to our wide campaign portfolio.

You will work collaboratively with fellow designers fostering joint upskilling, learning, and development opportunities.


Main Duties

  • Produce visually appealing online and offline collateral to effectively support the objectives of all departments across Campus Services including, but not limited to, Conferences & Events, Edgbaston Park Hotel, Winterbourne House and Garden, Food Beverage and Retail, Facility Services, Security, Student Living, Day Nurseries, as well internal comms facing collateral.
  • Producing high quality, accurate final files to print and digital specifications, including checking proofs, archiving and filing to the server on a daily basis.
  • Utilise your understanding of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) principles to provide insights and recommendations aimed at improving the user journey across our materials.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure, where applicable, that your designs align with overarching University branding and objectives
  • As a technical expert you will advise on all areas of design, including scoping projects, equipment, software and feeding into the review and enhancement production and working processes.
  • Liaising with external parties, such as printers, to ensure that a project runs smoothly, and a client's expectations are met
