About the Role


This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to work as part of a project which is evaluating the use of Xploro to improve children's experiences of planned blood tests at Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust.

You will be a key member of the team and will have responsibility for undertaking data collection with children and young people, parents/carers, and healthcare professionals.

Data collection will involve the use of paper activity sheets within the clinic and the contribution to data entry, analysis and report writing.


This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to make an important contribution to an important project and to join the staff within the Children, Young People and Families theme in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine.


About You

As Research Assistant, you will:

  • Be able to create and maintain working relations with clinical staff
  • Have excellent communication skills specifically in relation to communicating with children and young people who are undergoing clinical procedures
  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Have experience of working with children and families within a clinical setting
  • Be able to undertake research within health care settings.
  • Be familiar with the principles of ethical conduct in research, in particular those ethical issues that specifically pertain to working with children and their parents


It is important to note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and that this will form part of the conditions of offer of employment.
