Description
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation TrustThis is a replacement post for aconsultant psychiatrist in Perinatal Psychiatry.
The team provides specialistassessment and management for women of all ages suffering from, or at risk ofsuffering from, moderate and complex/severe mental illness either duringpregnancy or up to 24 months postnatally.
We providespecialist advice to other services and accept referrals from maternityservices, GPs, 0-25 service, social workers, IAPT providers and TEWV services.
If patients are open to anothersecondary mental health team, we will work alongside this team to offerspecialist input for the woman during the perinatal period.
A yearly job plan including evaluation will takeplace with the Associate Medical Director and General/Service Manager for thespecialty.Working alongside other members of themultidisciplinary team to assess, manage and review patients within theDurham and Darlington Community Perinatal Mental Health Team.
This will involveseeing patients at home when necessary as well as in outpatient clinics.Holding weekly outpatient clinics and seeingpatients referred by GPs, Psychiatrists, Obstetricians, Midwives, HealthVisitors, IAPT or other professionals within the perinatal team.
Maintain a link and relationship with therelevant mother and baby units (MBU) and attend MBU MDT reviews (in person orvirtually) for patients living within Durham and Darlington Community MentalHealth team area in order to maintain continuity of care.
Contribute medical expertise to childsafeguarding proceedings.We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby.

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Old Age Psychiatry OR included within six months.
