We undertake a number of procedures including Diagnostic and therapeutic OGD and Colonoscopy, EMR, Colonic stenting; ERCP, EUS (radial and linear), Capsule Endoscopy, Oesophageal pH and manometry studies and both sites are JAG accredited.

You will be JAG accredited and have the opportunity to develop your skills further in independent lists. Excellent training is available in the modality of your choice.

You will be able to develop your interests further and have the chance to participate in ongoing research activity in the department as well as contribute to audit and development of guidelines.

As a Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist, you will provide operational, organisational and strategic leadership to the brilliant multidisciplinary Nutrition team and also work as a consultant colleague within the Gastroenterology services with the team responsibilities.

You will be involved in the provision of designated lists per week (both inpatient and outpatient, emergency, and non-emergency).

You will have the opportunity to develop your training needs outside of these sessions, in any of the sub specialties listed below.

  • Advanced Endoscopy (ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Video Capsule Endoscopy)
  • Clinical Nutrition & Intestinal Failure
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (complex tertiary IBD, adolescent IBD and clinical trials)

Lists would be weekdays but if unable to accommodate service demand, they may on occasion be during evening or weekend.

There will be on call commitments and full registration with the GMC is essential.

Our Trust is one of the largest acute trusts in the country and the biggest provider of acute healthcare services in NHS North East London and the City (NELC).Our dedicated workforce of 6,500 staff and volunteers serve our local population of around 750,000, from a wide range of social and ethnic groups.

More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.

We also provide healthcare services to people in southwest Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford.

We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.

As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need.

The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.

We are tackling the backlog in many ways including having super-clinics in the evening and weekends; using state-of-the art diagnostic equipment; and streamlining the way we work.
