    Team Administrator (Cellular Genetics Programme)

    About the Role:

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Administrator to join our Cellular Genetics Programme for a 1-year fixed-term contract or secondment (with the possibility of extension).

    This role provides comprehensive administrative support to Programme Faculty, their teams, and supports the delivery of their objectives by working within a high-performing Team Administration function.

    About You:

    As a key interface between our research teams and our central support teams and processes, you will have strong communication skills and a 'can-do' attitude. You should be a highly organised, efficient, self-motivated and energetic individual who is able to work independently in a dynamic environment with flexibility, adjusting to varying priorities and finding solutions to challenges that arise. You will need to be tactful and discrete in communication and respect confidentiality. The ability to build effective relationships with members of the Institute and external partners at all levels is essential. Your personal qualities will include professionalism, personal drive, trustworthiness and the ability to work collaboratively.

    About Us:
    The Cellular Genetics Operations team supports the cutting-edge research of all Faculty groups within the Cellular Genetics Programme. By providing multidisciplinary support, we maximise the delivery and scale of our Faculty science, which is focussed on mapping human tissues at scale. Cellular Genetics Operations is comprised of several teams supporting the following activities; team administration, research management, bioinformatics, laboratory support and sample processing, scientific illustration, project management and software development.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join our team and make an impactful difference to the science that is delivered. You would be joining a tight-knit Team Administration function with a diverse range of backgrounds as well as the wider Institute Administration Network both of which promote personal and professional development. This will give the successful candidate the opportunities to grow and build their potential and as a team who are highly focused on continuous improvement, there will be opportunities to engage in a wide range of initiatives.

    Key responsibilities;

    Administrative, Personal Assistant, and Programme Support Responsibilities:
    • Manage shared inboxes alongside other Team Administrators.
    • Organise and coordinate diaries efficiently.
    • Arrange and coordinate team and Programme meetings, as well as seminars.
    • Provide support and make arrangements for visitors to the Programme.
    • Facilitate travel arrangements for Programme Faculty and teams.
    • Handle various administrative tasks including purchasing, minute-taking during meetings, completing paperwork, processing expenses, and ensuring overall smooth operation of the Programme.
    • Act as a key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
    Essential Skills:
    • Proven comprehensive secretarial/PA or administrative experience at senior manager level
    • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and using the Internet for background research
    • Appropriate level of data protection, security and confidentiality awareness
    • Organising and managing events, meetings and seminars
    • Proficient in managing multiple diaries concurrently
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and team working skills
    • Exceptional organiser with the ability to prioritise and manage workload
    • Ability to work independently, but also able to develop strong collaborative working relationships with diverse team members/stakeholders
    • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
    • Financial administration such as managing expense claims and credit card reconciliations
    • Commitment to and focus on quality, promoting high standards in all they do
    • Accepts responsibility and accountability for own work
    • Demonstrates professional curiosity
    • Able to work effectively under pressure

    Desirable:
    • Relevant academic and/or professional qualification in administration or equivalent experience
    • Previous experience of working in a scientific environment
    • Basic knowledge of project principles
    • Taking minutes

    Salary per annum: £31,985 - £38,382 (dependent upon skills and experience)

    Contract: One-year fixed term or secondment (with the possibility of extension)

    Based at: The Wellcome Sanger Institute, Hinxton, Cambridgeshire / Hybrid working (3 days in the office)
