    Description

    Firmware Engineer

    Company: Leading Space Engineering Company

    Location: Cambridge, UK

    Type: Permanent

    About the client - You'll be joining an award-winning team, applying your expertise in embedded software development to build robust code and accelerate our product to launch-ready. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in the hardware team and be instrumental in helping to deliver world-class solutions.

    Role - You'll lead in architecting projects. They work with the i.MX series of M7 microprocessors from NXP, across projects ranging from state-of-the-art motion controllers to image processing.

    Requirements/Specification:

    C/C++ as a primary programming language

    2-5 years of experience, including

    Microcontrollers

    Bare metal and Free RTOS

    I2C and CAN bus and serial communications protocols

    Ethernet communication

    Image processing libraries (JPEG)

    Electronics fundamentals

    Skills in reading and interpreting schematics

    Experience with video electronics, especially the CMOS interface and different pixel formats - e.g. YUV422, RGB565, etc.

    Any IOT communication fundamentals useful - e.g., wireless such as LoRa, Hart, etc.

    Basic Python knowledge is required for making and modifying scripts for both connecting the boards and processing image data. Knowledge of numpy is a special requirement.
