Role Overview:
Job holder is responsible for performing assembly and test (A&T), machine shop, stores and yard job processes including, water blasting, assisting in assembly & disassembly of equipment, forklift duties, sawing, bead blasting, phosphating, engraving and general labouring duties.
Although the job holder is responsible for making individual decisions, decision making is often taken in consultation with the supervisor.
The job holder is required to complete allocated jobs, often working to tight deadlines on a range of tasks to rigorous HSEQ standards.
Work is of a physical nature, involving lifting and manual handling, albeit supported by physical aids (cranes and forklifts etc.), and working with potentially dangerous machinery and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out general labouring duties as required and assisting day to day Operations with the Assembly & Test (A&T) area
- Assisting in the disassembly, cleaning and preparing pressure control equipment (PCE) in A&T
- Water blasting of company and customer owned PCE (training will be provided)
- Assisting with maintenance work to facilities, plant and equipment within workshop floor or yard
- Ensuring all daily and weekly checks are performed on equipment as per company procedures
- Ensuring all equipment and chemicals are used and stored in a safe and controlled manner
- Signing off route cards to indicate an operation has been completed
- Moving material/components with overhead cranes in a safe and controlled manner
- Reporting to Supervisor any failures in quality or efficiency immediately, also any processes or procedures identified that can improve quality and efficiency
- Ensuring the following daily housekeeping duties are performed: machines (inside and out), work areas and surrounding areas are cleaned and tidied at the end of each shift as well as the workshop and yard
- Ensuring Swarf bins are emptied regularly
- Operating forklift/electric pallet trucks in a safe and controlled manner
- Phosphating finished parts whilst maintaining the correct phosphate solution levels
- Stamping/engraving finished parts
- Sawing, handling and maintaining traceability of raw material and finished parts at all times
- Deburring/polishing finished parts
- Wearing correct PPE at all times
- Recording on/off working hours accurately and report any failed bookings immediately to the Supervisor.
- Accurately record and maintain quality records
- Ensuring all processes are carried out in accordance with company procedures and work instruction
- Working efficiently on your own and or as part of a team
- Fulfil responsibilities under company HSEQ policies and as reasonably practicable the health, safety and welfare of others
- Working additional hours of overtime to meet operational requirements when required
Qualifications/Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Standard grades or equivalent transferable experience and skills
- Full UK Driving License
- Experience in all aspects of sawing, bead blasting, phosphating
- Forklift and Electric pallet truck training
- Gantry crane and Banksman slinging training
- Knowledge of Company products/specifications
