- Providing surgical and medical nursing support to the veterinary surgeons. This will include monitoring anaesthesia, administering medications and diagnostic imaging.
- Providing a high level of nursing care to hospitalised patients.
- Admitting and discharging patients for various procedures.
- Assisting the veterinary surgeon in consultations when required.
- Dispensing animal medicines as directed by a veterinary surgeon.
- Practicing hygiene standards, maintaining and sterilising equipment.
- Surgical cleaning post procedures.
- Kennel room and laboratory maintenance and cleaning.
- Taking part in the general housekeeping of the surgery.

Registered Veterinary NurseWe are a 100% Small Animal Practice (dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs), and are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team
About the role:
You will be employed as a Registered Veterinary Nurse across all sites, a vehicle would be helpful if you are needed to commute between sites, but it is not essential.
Your work will include working within the veterinary surgery, liaising with the surgeon(s), nurses and reception support staff.
You will be required to form an integral part of the healthcare team in the medical and surgical care of animals, as well as providing excellent client care.
You will be responsible to the Head Nurse, Practice Managers and Vets, and occasionally responsible for assisting with the supervision of new, training or voluntary staff.
We use Vets Now for OOH.Your main duties will include:
You will also be involved in all aspects of client care, including reception duties.
The general reception duties undertaken will cover the following:
You are also expected to perform any work activity or duty within your skill and competence that may be required in the normal course of running a veterinary practice to assist the smooth running of the practice and facilitate the treatment of patients.
Skills:
The basic working week is 40 hours exclusive of meal breaks. These hours will be taken Monday to Friday. Saturday is usually on rota as additional hours, paid at flat rate overtime.
Additional hours, at flat rate, may be required for you to work according to the operational needs of the practice.
Monday-Friday 8.30am - 6.30pm (shifts on a rota basis). Your shift will be 9 hours, including a one-hour unpaid lunchbreak. We can be flexible with working days and hours, and this can be discussed at interview.Saturday pm (shifts on a rota basis)
