- To be skilled in providing all general nursing treatment room duties including the following:
- Wound care / swab taking
- Ear Syringing
- Administration of injections including childhood immunisations
- To undertake diagnostic procedures
- Venepuncture
- Doppler assessment
- Electrocardiograms
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Provide health education at all opportunities
- To provide emergency care as necessary and to attend mandatory annual training
- Provide cervical screening
- Provide current travel health advice and immunisations using recognised sources of information
- Continue the treatment of patients referred by district nurses and refer to the district nursing team as appropriate
- Infection control
- To provide sick / annual leave cover to ensure that safe levels of nursing services are provided
- Maintaining nursing equipment
- In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
- In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder will have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
- Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data
- All staff with unsupervised access to children or vulnerable adults are DBS checked
- All staff are trained in child protection and care for vulnerable adults

- Educated to degree level
- Evidence of working autonomously or as part of a team
- Broad knowledge of General Practice
- Experience working in a primary care setting

Job Summary:
This is an excellent opportunity for a general nurse wishing to develop. We are looking for a practice nurse to provide general nursing treatment room duties to all patients registered to the practice with scope of further training in chronic disease management and personalised care. The post Holder is an experienced nurse, who acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice. They will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.
