    Description

    NeuroSupport services are currently recruiting Support Workers and Healthcare Assistants with a background of Brain Injury and Mental health experience to support services users with an acquired Brain Injury.

    Our service aims to support rehabilitation and in enabling people to optimise independence and quality of life.

    We are looking for psychology graduates,support Workers and Healthcare Assistants or suitable candidates who would be willing to support people both within their home environment and also willing to provide support in helping service users access the community.

    We are looking for candidates that are confident with working independently and providing empirical feedback where necessary.

    THIS IS A UK BASED POSITION

    • EXPERIENCE IN BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT
    • A FULL CLEAN UK DRIVERS LICENCE AND ACCESS TO A CAR YOU CAN USE FOR WORK

    Monday: 8:00am - 10:00am

    Tuesday: 8:00am - 10:00am

    Wednesday: 8:00am - 10:00am

    Thursday: 8:00am - 10:00am

    Friday: 8:00am - 10:00am


    About you-Essential Experience:


    We are looking for a support worker with experience in ABI, as this individual sustained an ABI (subtle micro haemorrhage in right frontal temporal region) in a road traffic accident on 1st December 2019.

    The client has also been able to identify that he is looking for somebody who is compassionate, has good humour, and will not be overly critical of him.

    Support worker provision would be useful to help with things like planning and preparing for the week ahead, managing paperwork, developing and maintaining a routine, and attending appointments/hobbies on time.


    Activities required:


    Some activities will need to be considered/reviewed once the support is implemented, as it has taken a little time for the client to open up to the idea of a support worker.

    His main issues can be thought of as difficulty concentrating, difficulty retaining information, and poor time keeping / routine management.

    He also does not eat very well.

    The client is open to an initial programme of approximately 10 hours per week, with support in the mornings, but the MDT is hoping to eventually progress this to include assistance and observations during the day, the evenings, and at the weekend.

    As mentioned in the section above, initially support worker provision would be useful to help with things like planning and preparing for the week ahead, managing paperwork, developing and maintaining a routine, and attending appointments/hobbies on time.

    It would also be nice if the support worker could join some of the monthly MDT's with the treating team (case manager, neuropsychologist and neuro-OT) and provide some observations.
