    Job Summary

    This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the Medical Equipment team at Yorkshire Ambulance Service. You'll be instrumental in carrying out top-notch maintenance and repair operations for Medical Devices.

    The role involves working on a variety of Medical Devices on operational Ambulances throughout Yorkshire. Your responsibilities will include testing, calibrating components and equipment, and keeping detailed records of all maintenance activities.

    We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable individual with strong work ethics and substantial experience in Electronics and/or Medical Engineering.

    The position is full-time, Monday to Friday.

    Main Duties of the Job

    • Liaise with external organizations regarding parts supply, new equipment, and technical support.
    • Identify and rectify faults on medical equipment.
    • Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and calibration of medical equipment.
    • Create, complete, and maintain records for all equipment and work done.
    • Maintain a stock of spares for quick repairs and minimal ambulance downtime.
    • Conduct audits, surveys, and collaborate with staff at all levels.
    • Assist in vehicle kitting and de-kitting, equipment inventories, and asset allocation.
    • Participate in meetings to contribute ideas for policy and procedure improvements.
    • Ensure timely reporting of incidents and near misses per risk management procedures.
    • Be available for on-call rotations and flexible work patterns.
    • Provide expertise in a specialized area and support other technical staff.

    Job Responsibilities

    Principal Duties and Areas of Responsibility:

    • Liaise with external organizations for parts supply, equipment, and technical support.
    • Identify and rectify faults on medical equipment.
    • Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and calibration of medical equipment.
    • Create, complete, and maintain equipment records.
    • Maintain spare parts inventory to minimize repair delays.
    • Conduct audits, collaborate with staff, and assist in vehicle operations.
    • Participate in projects, assist in research, and implement solutions for medical equipment.
    • Follow manufacturers' protocols, YAS procedures, and report incidents accurately.
    • Be available for on-call rotations and work flexible hours as needed.
    • Handle manual tasks and have expertise in electronics and mechanical systems.
    • Repair and maintain various medical devices including defibrillators.
    • Train and provide practical guidance to support staff.
    • Update manuals, understand equipment environments, and common faults.

    Essential

    • Analyze information, troubleshoot technical issues, and make decisions.

    • C1/D1 driving license.
    • Qualifications

      Essential

      • BTEC HNC/HND/Degree level with post-apprenticeship training in Electronics/Mechatronics.
      • Desirable

      • Knowledge of medical device repair and maintenance procedures.
      • Experience

        Essential

        • Demonstrated previous experience in a complex business environment.
        • Desirable

        • Experience with medical devices, NHS settings, and Trust/Agency environments.
