Description
Post-COVID Syndrome ServicePrimary Care Psychological Therapy (IAPT) Division, GMMH
Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
In response to the ongoing healthcare needs reported by a proportion of people subsequent to infection with COVID-19, a national five point plan has been published which includes the development of bespoke care pathways to complement existing primary, community and rehabilitation services.
Commonly occurring ongoing difficulties include:
fatigue, breathlessness, joint and muscle pain, common mental health problems, chest pain, insomnia, and loneliness.
We have developed a service pathway for the population to address these needs.
The pathway is designed to provide a consistent destination to meet the needs of people living with PCS, many of whom will be at the end of sensible acute medical care, but still living with significant functional limitation.
We need enthusiastic and able professionals, committed to working in a person-centred way, to promote optimal self-management, reinforce helpful illness beliefs and behaviour, and help alleviate the unnecessary suffering which shadows depression, crippling anxiety, persistent pain and fatigue.
This role is an essential part of the multi-disciplinary team, the skill mix chosen to ensure we can collectively help make a positive difference and alleviate the deleterious impact of PCS on life-choices and -trajectories.
The service clinical skill-mix consists of a Clinical Health Psychologist, Operational Manager, Pharmacist, Neuropsychologist and Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychological Therapists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.
We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.
From the beauty of the surrounding countryside to the heart of the vibrant inner city with great shopping, entertainment and dining options.
Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth, humour and generosity.
Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.
