Job description


We have an exciting opportunity to join us as part of our Strategic Enablers (SE) team at RAF Henlow, working within the Integrated Battlespace Operating Centre.


You will be an Operations Manager within the Air Defence and Electronic Warfare Systems Delivery Team (ADEWS DT) which is responsible for a variety of projects and in-service support in the areas of air defence radar, radios, antennas structures and radomes,and specialist electronic warfare facilities.


You will support delivery of the service in accordance with customer agreements by using demand, supply and project management skills and techniques.

Engaging and building relationships with stakeholders, you will drive and deliver outcomes in a way thatidentifies risks and recommends clear, viable mitigating actions.

Please note that these roles are based in our offices at RAF Henlow and in-office attendance will be expected as required.

This post will require frequent travel to remote military sites, to Abbey Wood, Bristol, and other locations. This could include overnight stays, weekly trips, and possible overseas trips. Travel and sustenance costs will be covered.


About the role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of the Service Delivery Plan, Transition to Service Plan or Through Life Support Plan depending on the platform or equipment's status in the Concept, Assessment, Demonstration, Manufacture, In-Service and Disposal(CADMID) cycle.
  • Liaise with stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and internal teams on specific issues and implementing solutions that maximise platform availability for minimum throughlife cost; through collaboration with technical and engineering colleaguesto meet the requirements agreed.
  • Contribute to the drafting, tender process and assessment of tenders and monitoring the performance of suppliers in terms of the quality, timeliness, and reliability of goods and/or services to ensure agreed contractual obligations are met.
  • Assist in the implementation of change to requirements in response to cost and time pressures to ensure delivery to the customer meets expectations.
  • Aid in investigating where the required Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are not being achieved to the required quality, standard or timescales and help to identify the issues and take appropriate action.
  • Assist in supervising resources, monitoring actual spend and updating forecasts accordingly to ensure the integrated support meets customer requirements fully within the agreed budget.

Person specification

  • Demonstrable experience of working within at least one of the following fields: Operations Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Engineering, Technical Through-Life Support or Commercial.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Experience of managing multiple workloads and delivering to deadlines, in a fast paced, deliveryfocused environment.
  • Evidence of communicating, influencing, and working in collaboration with various stakeholders, internal and external at all levels.
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following
desirable criteria:

  • Experience of RAF Communication and Information Systems engineering.
  • Holder of an APMP Qualification.
  • Holder of a full UK Driving License.
