Supervising Social Worker (Foster Care) | Edgbaston | Full-time | Up to £38,000 pa


Swiis Foster Care is looking to recruit a passionate and dedicated Supervising Social Worker to join its service in Edgbaston to cover the Midlands.

The post is permanent, full time (37.5 hours) and there is an attractive annual salary of up to £38,000 dependingon experience, plus car allowance.

This is a hybrid role with an office base, and flexibility to work from home.

Standard working hours are 9:00am - 5:00pm although this role will require flexibility with working evenings and weekends on occasions.


The role of Supervising Social Worker is an exciting and a stimulating one that involves providing intensive support to foster carers and their families to enable them to provide the very best quality of care to the vulnerable children they look after.


Working in accordance with the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and the Fostering Services National Minimum Standards 2011, you will provide monthly supervision to a manageable caseload of between 12 to 15 fostering households, undertake additionalplanned and unannounced visits to children in placement, formulate development plans for foster carers, and forge effective working relationships with the local authorities responsible for children.

You will have excellent recording and report writing skillsand will be IT competent.


You will be a team player, a good communicator and a skilled and self-motivated professional, with the ability to work flexibly.


You will have a good understanding of the needs of children looked after and of the challenges that these bring for foster carers, as well as transferrable assessment skills, but you need not have direct experience within the fostering sector.


You will have a strong commitment to promoting and safeguarding the wellbeing of children, but you will also have an appreciation of the demands that come with working for a high-quality independent fostering service in an increasingly competitive environment.


Essential requirements

  • Current Social Work England registration and be eligible to work in the UK
  • MA/BA in social work/DipSW/CQSW
  • 2 years' relevant recent practice experience desirable
  • Thorough understanding of legislative framework pertaining to children and of safeguarding
  • Ability to manage a case load
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Car driver with own car and clean licence
