    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care Team at Wythenshawe Hospital.


    The successful candidate will be joining an established team who provide specialist palliative care expertise across the acute care setting.

    The team values close working relationships with medical, nursing and social health care colleagues.

    We have a firm commitment to the education and training of others and promoting quality and excellence in palliative and end of life care across Manchester Foundation NHS Trust.


    For this Band 6 post, we are keen to appoint a team orientated, highly motivated and experienced nurse, who has specialist palliative care knowledge.

    The team provides a 7 day service and this post requires weekend working on a rota basis. Your personal professional development will be actively encouraged.

    Provide evidence-based specialist palliative care, advice and support to patients with a diagnosis of cancer or other life-threatening illness, and their carers.

    Work collaboratively with multi-professionals across primary and secondary care and liaising with the Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care Team Lead where appropriate.

    Provide specialist palliative care advice, education and training to all members of the multi professional team across all care settings as the service requires.

    Post registration qualification in palliative care, cancer care or life-limiting conditions
    Oncology qualification
    Communication skills training.

    Experience in audit/project management.
    Demonstrate an understanding of current cancer and palliative care issues
    Relevant communication skills training eg: Sage and Thyme
