    Description

    Position Overview:

    We are looking for a Psychiatric trainee or specialty doctor interested in a stimulating opportunity in London that offers a blend of clinical work, research, and quality improvement initiatives, without any on-call duties. Join us for full-time specialty doctor roles at our established acute adult in-patient wards in the London Borough of Lewisham. This role is based at the Ladywell unit within the University Hospital Lewisham.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Provide psychiatric input for the ward's patient case load and collaborate with the consultant and multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
    • Deputize for the Consultant when needed and actively participate in ward meetings and rounds.
    • Attend bed management meetings and contribute to enhancing the quality of care in the in-patient services.

    Detailed Job Description:

    As a specialty doctor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of patients detained under the Mental Health Act. This involves conducting clinical assessments, risk evaluations, and collaborating with the clinical team to create treatment plans. You will also be involved in documentation, liaising with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in various meetings and hearings.

    Person Specification:

    Qualifications:

    • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification

  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in other relevant specialties such as in patient, liaison psychiatry, home treatment or addictions
    • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
    • Section 12 Approved doctor or eligible and willing to apply for Sec 12 Approval as soon as possible
    • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
    • Good knowledge in specialty
    • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
    • Good range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
    • Ability to work in a team
    • Demonstrate commitment to collaborative working to deliver improvement.
    • Participate in continuous professional development
    • Commitment to working across service boundaries
    • Commitment to developing user-focused services
    • Teaching experience
    • Experience of clinical research and / or audit and QI work
