- Assess the behaviour of dogs, before they enter the centre's care and during their stay, to identify potential behaviour needs, as per Dogs Trust Standard Operating Procedures.
- Design and implement BMPs to enhance each dogs' chances of rehoming, in support of the centre's priorities based on individual dog welfare and requirements.
- To assist with the training and support of staff at the rehoming centre, developing practical training skills.
- Provide a high standard of customer service to members of the public and adopters when meeting them in person or dealing with them over the phone.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Training and Behaviour Advisor (ATBA) to assist with the assessment and behavioural rehabilitation of dogs in the rehoming centre.
The successful candidate will assist the centre's behaviour team with the design, implementation and review of Behavioural Modification Programmes (BMPs), for dogs in Dogs Trust care. The post holder will train and support colleague (staff and volunteers) and adopters on the implementation of Behaviour Modification Programmes.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare, including understanding the principles underlying learning and the ability to write training and behaviour programmes. You'll have excellent communication skills and the ability to and experience in handling difficult dogs but above all you'll be passionate and committed to the work of Dogs Trust.

About the team:
Our rehoming centres house thousands of dogs each year until they are able to find a loving new home and the success of our centres wouldn't be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers; there is a real family-community within each of our centres. Come rain or shine, our team are out in all weathers to make sure the dogs have the best possible life. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our rehoming centres are the face of Dogs Trust and we pride ourselves on our staff providing the very best in customer service.
What you need to know:
A full, manual driving licence is essential, as driving will be a part of the role. Working times are Monday to Sunday on a rota basis, 8am-4:30pm (subject to change and will be discussed during interview).
