We are delighted to be working on behalf of a high-end innovative manufacturer who are experiencing sustained and unprecedented growth within the automotive, aerospace, industrial and defence arenas.


Personal attributes:


  • Previous component design within a similar industry an advantage.
  • R&D environment that produce both one off prototypes and volume production runs.
  • Experience leading a team and working in a similar industry.
  • An understanding of the new product development process.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and have great attention to detail.
  • Be selfmotivated and have an organised approach to work.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Degree qualified in engineering or similar desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer or hold an affiliate / associate membership of a relevant professional body would be desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:


  • You will operate as part of a modern Engineering function and will lead a team of people, ensuring the smooth running of the department.
  • The role overseas the design and development of products (typically structural components) used in Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Energy sectors etc
  • Oversee and manage the full process from concept to delivery, ensuring efficient outputs.
  • You will lead the Engineering teams to support the growth of the production of composite products and tooling for aerostructures and propulsion, wheels, armouring and protection.
  • Define the roles and objectives of your teams to support the needs of the business, identify shortfalls or skill gaps and ensure a robust plan is in place to develop engineers.
  • Manage and lead a team of engineers to support the introduction of new innovative products and processes.
  • Carrying out technical product development reviews and produce reports resulting from engineering activities.
  • Understand the short, medium
- and long-term volume demand plans for the site and own the capacity solutions to meet that demand.

  • Planning of operational layouts and overall efficiencies to suit flexible volume and product design.
  • Liaise with other parts of the business to deliver those developments within the product release schedule.
  • Communicating all findings to engineering colleagues to help with the progression of design projects.
